Clarkia purpurea — one of many species of purple clarkias that dot the hillsides of Southern California. In the evening primrose family, these patterned pals are partial to chaparral environments and are sometimes called winecup clarkias, which makes them a favorite of mine 🍷
Latin: Clarkia purpurea
Common: Purple clarkia, winecup clarkia
A little over a year ago my aunt sent me a housewarming gift in a giant neon pink envelope. After opening the gift, I stuck the envelope in my paper drawer, let it get mixed up with all the other paper bits, and finally just now used it! //// paint pen and cut paper
In a summer solstice state of mind! 📷
There is a fierce summer solstice frequency vibrating within my spirit, mind and body. After a very calm and relaxing meditation under the strawberry full moon last night, I am feeling vastly stilled. The cosmic energy in this Sagittarius♐️ full moon emits a very trustworthy sensation.
As the longest day in our lunar cycle approaches, I can’t help but think about how much I truly enjoy the blessing of Ra and that this is only the beginning of a beautiful sun shining season.
One of the many things my family and I have grown to do during the warm summer months is to get out and around the blooms of the season by energizing and rebooting in botanical gardens. We have a plan to visit at least a handful of intimate places within the Bay that boast beautiful flowers and plants.
As well as plant our own familial flower. Probably selecting an annual botanical to plant. One that we will see bloom during every summer season.
Penstemon heterophyllus — the foothill penstemon. In the beardtongue family, foothill penstemon is native and endemic to California.
Although it’s best known for living in the foothills of the Sierras (as it’s aptly named), I’ve spotted it most up and down along the California coast!
Latin: Penstemon heterophyllus
Common: Foothill penstemon
