These gorgeous sunflowers were the Sunforest Mix that grew to be 15' tall and their faces spanned 12" wide.
I grew 22 of them in front of our bedroom windows for shaded privacy during the summer months and to attract bees to pollinate the rest of the garden. I wound up with a bee hive in our chimney that year that was a pain to get rid of, but boy was the view wonderful in spite of that! 😂😂 Plus I had plenty of sunflower seeds to fill the bird feeders in our backyard, and kept some of the seeds for the following summer. The squirrels were determined to fight anyone and anything for their unending bounty.
Through the years sunflower gardens have become one of my many plant passions, next to my Rose garden. They are hardy and will produce as much as you're willing to take, and more; with such a variety to choose from that I'll never tire of them.
Really excited to be nearing the end of my backyard make over. I started at the end of April and am in full sprint mode to have it done (and the inside of the house for important family visitors in a week! Still have one more floating deck to build, gravel paths to lay down and some trellises to install! 😱 @timber_pnw_gsd is a great supervisor. Whenever I was super frustrated with a setback there he was to offer encouragement in the form of puppy kisses.

Your healthy choice start fresh each day . & You are what you eat 💋
Today, I choose to start my day with homemade smoothie "Banoffe Pie Smoothie Bowl"
Which made from frozen banana, dragon fruit, coffee flavor milk & then team up with caramelized peanut, chia seeds & roasted black sesame seeds.. How about your dish this morning? 🌱🌱🌱🌱 For the banana, I chose over ripe one from the market which I can get them at nearly half price. But it still good inside and it's great for making smoothie. This is also a good way to get rid of food waste.. So let's try. 😊
วันนี้มาลองสมูทตี้ผลไม้แนวหอมหวานกันบ้างค่ะ ให้ชื่อว่า "Banoffee pie smoothie"

Ohh...Nobody is gonna look at me now! Look at all these other flowers blooming in my cousins’ houses around me!! 😭
(Wailing senior tuberose to the Creeper in the garden)
Shushhh !! Where did you get these ideas my dear? That’s not true! ( Mr serene tree outside )
But I was the only one resplendent in my form - now there are others too!!
(Anxious Tuberose again)
I might be little, but I do know thish ishn’t how it olllll works !
My granny tot me - when others bloom,we can’t lose our importance everrrr!! (Baby chrysanthemum sapling)
Ms Tuberose, listen listennn - Granny said we would lose our glow only if our brainy cells work on anxiety and jealousy more than they do on love and acceptance!
Uhhh.....Ahem! More wisdom than us seniors, eh chrys ?? (Smiling creepers swaying over chryssy)
Errr...but I am rooted Ma’am. And I am grounded.. And I just spoke from the heart..
(Whispered squeaks from the baby)
Really guys ?? The gardener is trying to bring order here, the milkman is screaming, the school buses are running around and you have this serious discussion going on?? 🙄
( Me, who else?!!!) Hush..she’s taken our pics..somebody tell her to go back into her home now puhleeez 🙄🙄 (Nope, I still don’t know who said that last bit!! Whatever!! ☹️😏) #tuberoses#flowers#flower#garden#gardener#nature#naturephotography#naturelovers#plantgifts#plants#plantsmakepeoplehappy#plant#plantsofinstagram#interiordesigner#interiordesign#interiordecorating#interiorstyle#beautifulhomes#home#homedecor#homegarden#houseplants#gardendesign
We love this arrangement of Peruvian lilies, hydrangeas and bellflowers! 💜💜Here's a tip for planting Peruvian lilies: Peruvian lily plants need lots of space as they can become invasive. Mature plants grow to 4 feet high and 2 feet wide. Plant the rhizomes in slightly acidic, well draining soil, at a depth that is three times their height and 12 inches apart.
I am almost done uploading everything onto my website for you to preview for tomorrow’s shop update, 4 PM Pacific time. Swipe to check out some of the pieces that will be available.
I’m pretty excited about this collection. There are some larger, one of a kind sculptural pieces available. I probably will never be able to make anything like them again!
Enjoy, and thank you in advance. Link in bio.
There’s a lot to be said about drip irrigation and a rough adaptation of back to Eden style gardening. I expanded out from last years test area. It’s funny because I used to joke about not wanting my garden to look like a child’s playground. And here I am. Wood chips and all.
Also I’ve had a lot of volunteer squash. So if you’re wondering what they’re doing at random. Because nature has a way!
I honestly cannot believe that I'm going to be on Gardeners World tomorrow. It's exciting but I’m a little nervous too. Okay, a lot nervous. During our day of filming Frances advised me NOT to look at Facebook comments after the show. Why's that? What we'll be doing is very different from the usual GW topic... It's a taste of Lovely Greens on a national level and it will feature not only my passion for growing but also making products from the garden. The idea was to show her what she could be doing on her own allotment and to also inspire others. Now it's hitting me that 3.2 million people may be watching. Dear lord what have I done? 🙈😂 Gardeners World will be on tomorrow night at 9pm on BBC Two. I hope you enjoy the piece 💚
Have you ever seen an orchid cactus?! 💕🌵

It’s fun watching all of these new raised beds come to life! When we were building all of these at the beginning of the season, I felt like the project was never ending! Last year we created this space, but just had gardens in the ground. Our soil has a lot of clay in it, so we didn’t have a great harvest from those areas. Which we knew that going into it, but the budget capped us before we were able to add raised beds last season. Now that we have raised beds with good soil, we use garden mixture which is topsoil and compost mix together. Things are growing like they’ve never grown before over here, and veggies are producing even more in the past week than they did all season last year!
It’s fun to watch everything filling in and growing up the new trellis Jason built for me this year too.
The best part about all of it, is sharing it with family❤️ The little kiddos are having a good time with grandma and grandpa!
I’m a crazy plant lady!! Just like my shirt says from @therooapron
My Mom always tells me I have magic hands. That it’s like, when I touch a plant, something transfers from my hands to the plants. And I believe it, because something inside of me feels it❤️
I believe plants can feel loved and can feel your energy. And this Squash Mashed Potatoes must be feeling it!! Look at how it is growing!!❤️❤️ For me, plants are just another family member in the room.
Some leaves are just starting to get a few holes, but I haven’t seen any pests. So last night, I just gave it a light prevention spray with Dr. Earth for veggies.
Seeing everything getting huge, is so gratifying, and I truly feel I’m in my element now.❤️❤️ what’s great, is that I can sense that in my whole family, and through out all the gardeners on social media! Everyone just seems so much happier! It’s funny how plants can do that, and how they can bring us so much more than just food and beauty. We were made to connect with plants. So for those of you who feel inspired to start a garden, but just haven’t yet, all I have to say is, START! Even if it’s just in one container, or just one plant. Give it a Go! Start with something you love to look at or love to eat. If you fail, nothing bad is going to happen. You can always seed another variety or plant another plant. Whatever you choose, just please start❤️❤️
Swiss #chard and sweet #alyssum is one of my favorite edible landscaping combinations.
This chard-alyssum combination works for three reasons: 1️⃣root partitioning, 2️⃣living mulch and 3️⃣pest control.
How beautiful are these Buttercream Iceland Poppies?! 💛💛Iceland poppy does best in full sun or light shade and moist, but well-drained soil. In the South, the plant appreciates a little afternoon shade. And in the Deep South, it's more commonly grown as an annual than a perennial.
