Pero hoy, en consultorio, salió en varios relatos de mis pacientes, el recuerdo de la niñez y la relación con la comida, frases como “comé todo”, “hasta que no quede nada en el plato, no te levantas” y tantas frases que han marcado nuestra infancia y se han transformado en una HUELLA.
Hemos crecido con tantas costumbres, hemos adoptado, aprendido y aprehendido conductas que hoy repetimos casi porque si..porque así nos enseñaron, porque así era antes, porque si lo hacían mis padres, mis abuelos, como no lo voy a hacer hoy.
Y aquí estamos..buscando respuestas a todo lo heredado..repitiendo patrones, modelos parentales..si cuestionamos y renegamos de todo ésto, será que no lo vivimos con alegría y si con pesar y con la necesidad de encontrar respuestas para dejar de sufrirlo.
En el espacio y tiempo de consultorio, a través de la ESCUCHA ACTIVA, mis pacientes se expresan, ponen en palabras sus emociones, sus temores, sus motivaciones..sus dudas, sus interrogantes. Aparecen recuerdos que pueden comenzar a explicar el origen de ciertas conductas actuales. Pero lo más importante, es descubrirse cómo partícipes activas de sus próximas decisiones y de sus elecciones.
Necesitamos parar ✋🏻 y aceptar que, para lograr verdaderos cambios, NO podemos seguir insistiendo con propuestas antiguas y mágicas..la solución NO está en una DIETA ni en un gimnasio 🏋️♂️.
En consultorio, percibo la necesidad de CREER en aquello que les devuelva la comodidad en sus cuerpos, en aquello que les permita cambiar su relación con la comida, en aquellos que puedan sostener en el tiempo y en especial en aquello que las/os libere de depender eternamente de la dieta prometedora.
Si han llegado hasta aquí sin conseguir más que frustración, prueben cambiar sus hábitos, aprendiendo a alimentarse y a relacionarse de manera sana con la comida.

I used to spend at least two hours from start to finish on dinner each night; from figuring out what I’m going to cook for dinner, making sure I have all the ingredients to cook the meal, making a store run for any missing ingredients, then slave away in the kitchen to prepare meal and then finally sit down to eat the meal. Or the alternative was just spend money on take out or going out to eat 🤷🏽♀️ •
That is until @rissa_chantal09 revamped my life and taught me how to meal prep and it changed the whole game! Now instead of wasting life away doing that I choose 3-4 meals for the week, make a list for everything I need, grocery shop and then spend about 4 hours cooking the meals. Then I have lunch and dinner for the week! Then I don’t have to waste time or money trying to figure out what I’m going to eat which frees me up to focus on other things! •
Meal prepping doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy. Don’t let the “professional meal preppers” out there intimidate you because it can really be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. Have a good diet is foundational to living a healthy lifestyle and being the best version of yourself and meal prepping definitely makes accomplishing other goals so much easier!

Primero debes entender que el abdomen es como cualquier otro músculo, y que cuando haces abdominales es como cuando haces cualquier otro ejercicio que fortalece el músculo que puede estar escondido debajo de una capa de grasa que solo se pierde con una buena alimentación y la suma de ejercicio cardiovascular y pesas.
Tienes que estar en forma y tener un porcentaje de grasa relativamente bajo para que se vea la definición abdominal.
Y es que los ejercicios abdominales no bajan la barriga sino que fortalecen el músculo, así que con que hagas unos buenos ejercicios abdominales de calidad 3 veces por semana es más que suficiente. ⭐️The maintenance of life is critically dependent on keeping our internal balance constant in the face of a changing environment called “homeostasis”. The term “stress” is meant to represent the effects of anything that seriously threatens homeostasis. The actual or perceived threat to an organism is referred to as the “stressor” and the response to the stressor is called the “stress response.” Although stress responses evolved as adaptive processes, it has been observed that severe, prolonged stress responses might lead to tissue damage and disease 😷💢.
⭐️Following the perception of an acute stressful event, there is a cascade of changes in the nervous, cardiovascular, endocrine, and immune systems. These changes constitute the stress response and are generally adaptive, at least in the short term 👀⏰.
⭐️Two features in particular make the stress response adaptive. First, stress hormones are released to make energy stores available for the body’s immediate use. Second, a new pattern of energy distribution emerges. Energy is diverted to the tissues that become more active during stress, primarily the skeletal muscles and the brain. Cells of the immune system are also activated and migrate to “battle stations”. Less critical activities are suspended, such as digestion and the production of growth and gonadal hormones. Simply put, during times of acute crisis, eating, growth, and sexual activity may be a detriment to physical integrity and even survival 💪🏼🏃🏽♀️✨.

Lets talk about bones 🦴 shall we? As some of you may not or not know I had pretty severe eating disorder/anorexia when I was a teen. And that’s kinda where this post starts.
You see I think sometimes, we do this damage to ourselves without really understanding the repercussions. And your loved ones/doctors don’t really understand it fully either. And then there comes a day years later where you finally realize how harmful your actions were but it’s too late now because the damage has been done. .
I thought I wasn’t that bad off because I never was on a tube or in a wheel chair but any form of deprivation over a long period of time is still serious. Thursday I found out I have osteoporosis in my low back and osteopenia pretty much everywhere else. I wasn’t super surprised by the osteopenia because I saw it after my hip surgeries but everywhere?? And the osteoporosis blew me away. “Really?? In my low back?? But I weight lift? But I was only in treatment for a year??”. Just goes to show how little it takes to cause some serious damage. .
I also want to use this instance to warn against the quasi recovery. Being just healthy enough to satisfy your family and doctors but still trying your absolute hardest to restrict and maintain the smallest physique possible. It’s a dangerous game I played. One where you ignore the obvious signs your body gives you that its struggling (hungry, tired, loss of menses) and keep pushing because you have this mental picture of how you HAVE to look. That is where I think I actually did the most damage. .
Everybody is different and every body is going to be affected by an eating disorder in different ways but please don’t think that just because your “not sick enough” for treatment that you aren’t still doing lasting harm to your body. Those abs aren’t worth it, that stick thin figure isn’t worth it, weighing a certain number IS. NOT. WORTH. IT. Your health and happiness are what matters. .
I’m working with a doctor now to help strengthen my bones because thankfully there is still hope because I’m young, but it’s going to be a battle I should never of had to fight. Finished below 👇
After a week of vacation and eating bad i guess I’ll take how I look! Weights up a bit. Been working with my bestfriend @bbankey58 making some solid upper body progress! Doesn’t allow me to train legs 3x a week 😂😂

So when I was in elementary school I always wanted glasses (I once tried to fake an eye exam to get glasses but my mom caught me 😝🤦🏼♀️) and even now as an adult I have always wanted glasses...I think it’s to counteract the blonde hair and get my patients to stop telling me that I look 12 😉🧐🤣 I’m just gonna keep chalking it up to the @beautycounter for helping me make my patients think I look 12 🙇🏼♀️💁🏼♀️
