The moment I saw her I just cried. Tears poured right down my face and all I could do was lay down right in the middle of the trail and cry. Waimanu...The place on Earth I’ve run to more than anywhere else.
I missed her and needed her and didn’t even realize it till laying there in the rocks. I felt her rise up to meet me. Hold me. Welcome me home. I let it all out. Every pain of missing HURT100 last year, the pains of the first year of marriage, the sadness of losing my grandma & grandpa this year, the worries if I’m raising Kainoa up right, I was so deeply needing to share with my heart out on the trails, to her, to Waimanu...
7 months away was far too long and I didn’t even realize being hurt was one thing but not being here was causing me to hold it all in. My silent fight. I felt her hold me and tell me I’m okay and it’s okay and I’m back.
I’m not the best hula performer but I brought her a gift, I danced the dance we did for May Day. I gave her a lei, and a papaya. My ho’okupu, so simple they felt for how much I was given today...
Roast duck for dinner - the duck was from @whippoorwillfarmssc and delicious. .
This was my first time eating duck (Finn too). It's truly a different experience eating meat from a farm you know and trust. I had a few observations throughout the roasting and eating process. .
1) there was a bit more conversation around the cooking of our dinner. Doug did the cooking and removing the neck of the duck brought on questions and concerns from Finn. This prompted some education on where meat and our food comes from. As a culture, we live so disconnected from what we eat. For Finn there is now a realization that when we say we are having chicken - it's actually a chicken. We also got to share with Finn how important it is to be grateful and appreciative of where our meat comes from and to use every last bit. Which brings me to #2. .
2) when choosing meat from a local farm you do spend a bit more than you would at your local Harris Teeter. I honestly don't mind this because I view food as an investment in our health. But when you spend more you're more mindful about using everything. We made sure everyone at the table saved their bones and the carcass went into the pressure cooker for bone broth right after dinner.
3) our two dogs were VERY interested in our meal more so than usual. This makes me believe one of two things; either they sensed/smelled that this animal was fresh and more 'wild' than what we usually serve OR the meat that we typically serve (and we always choose organic meat) has been handled so differently that it has lost some 'oomph'. This is a bit hard to describe but it was quiet noticeable.
We've been very concious about what we purchase - but regularly choosing meat from a local farmer hasn't happened yet. It requires more thought and planning (finding a farmer you trust and ordering in advance). I'm excited to continue to explore this and make it part of our life regularly.
Birthday Month day 20: JZ said I want Tacos El Pastor for dinner, so we collaborated and here we are. We paired them with a Silver Oak 2013 Alexander Valley. Two thumbs up!
I just wanted to say HI 🙋♀️ and drop 3 fun facts about me for any newbies🤗
I am a Health and Life Coach certified through @healthcoachinst (which was an amazing experience!) I love helping others bust out of their limiting beliefs and realize that life is not a dress rehearsal. I REALLY want you to have your wake-up call before you HAVE to have a wake-up call🙌
I got my first pot-bellied pig when I was just a wee 10yr old, I obviously stopped eating pork, so haven’t had bacon in 20 years🐷 I would consider myself plant-based, and over the years have learned not to preach about it😂 What I love about being a Health Coach is helping people discover what feels good in their body- not what I think feels good or what the next health fad is, but instead put the focus on you👊(photo from #vegtoria today)
I just married my best friend and am adjusting to life as a newlywed very well. Multiple toxic relationships in the past have made me learn I am valuable and deserve respect- so when I met my now husband, I knew it was the real deal and I feel fortunate for going through everything I went through to know what I deserve and what not to settle for.
Oh and bonus fun fact- I lasted 45 seconds on the mechanical bull in Vegas- I am no cowgirl, but I think that’s pretty good🐂
Drop a fun tidbit about you below, I would love to learn more about YOU😘
You’re stuck doin corny stuff like this for life with me, @eaeppli 😉😇
This past week has been a freaking DREAM.😌😍 Costa Rica is absolutely breathtaking, but even more amazing than the beauty here, is getting to enjoy it with my forever best friend.☺️
These past 6 years have been the best years of my life, and I have you to thank for that, @eaeppli 💜
I’m so thankful to have a partner that shares so many common interests as me, like being active, working out, sports, self-improvement, meditation (judge us💁🏻♀️), and all the corny things I’ll leave unmentioned😜, someone that is insanely supportive, is a dreamer like myself, challenges me to be the best version of myself, and will unapologetically call me out when necessary (even when I don’t want to hear it🙄) heheh.
Bottom line, I’m freaking lucky.
@eaeppli you’re a rare find😉 & I will never, ever take that for granted.😘
Ily more & more every day.💜
Excited to keep takin’ on life with you & chasing our dreams together.😘
Bucket list goals with your best mate. Who would you take? ☀️📷 @michutravel
Komu, komu??? Bo idę do domu! 😂
Chyba mogłabym jeść to codziennie... jak wszystko, co zawiera fetę. Tą prawdziwą taką, a nie biedronkowy ser kanapkowy. 😂 I colka musi być - na wakacjach niekoniecznie zero. 🤪
This is taking living in your own bubble to a whole new level 🙌🏽 Imagine the views from this magical glass room 🇲🇻💕📷@jeremyaustiin
Follow us into the jungle… 🦁
We have been so thankful to explore the islands this summer, and take a moment to realize how lucky we are to live in Hawaii. Photography and Videography are great ways to truly experience a destination… 🔜 That being said, we will be taking a road trip on August 8 to explore several different National Parks and the PNW🔥🚙 Hope everyone has a safe weekend 🤙🏽🙏🏼
