Happy Monday! Last night, I watched the movie “Le Petit Prince” and I was so enchanted by it that I couldn’t resist painting this scene.
For those who, like me, live in a cave and missed it when it was released, this is a beautifully animated film about a young girl who has just met the book's now-elderly aviator narrator, who tells her the story of his meeting with the Little Prince.
I found it profoundly moving and faithful to the spirit of the book. It makes me want to reread this classic book again.
Begging it to be fall, so instead we will just pretend. ⠀

A little landscape for this beautiful Monday morning. Those layered mountains always seem to draw me in. .

I'll be studying/testing this week, but I want to try and get in as much drawing as I can to counter balance. we'll see. Eventually, I think it will be fun to go back and color these in.
Good morning lovelies! How was your weekend?
Here’s what my palette looks like at the moment. I spent the end of last week working on color studies.... It’s always good to go back to basics and get a refresher. And now I need to clean up for the week ahead. 😊 Have a great week!
Thanks everyone for voting in my informal poll in the last post! It was a tie between 1,2 and 4. I’ll be the tie-breaker and go with this one!! How could you not love that purple? It gets me every time 💜
Happy Monday art-lovers! 😊
Still playing the catch-up game BUT I'm finally feeling better today! 👍🙆♀️
Thanks so much for all the good vibes and caring thoughts ~ it really means so much when you're feeling crappy! 🥰❤️❤️❤️
This piece was supposed to be a whale 🐋🤨😂... but apparently it had hidden floral goals 🌷🌻🥀🍃

Truly and slowly getting back into art making. I’ve always been pretty good at putting in the time and hard work towards my art...even as a teenager in high school I always worked hard. I’m thankful to have this amazing outlet to make things. 😍😍😍 How about you? How has art changed your life?
Hi this is my Intern Muskann. 🌍
Muskann has an excellent attention to detail, is prompt in responding, and helps me on miscellaneous activities that I throw at her.
She is recently from India and is going to school in Atlanta at Georgia State. She has worked with artists in India in the past in a similar job role. She is willing to learn and I like that!
Muskann is my marketing, and community relations intern.
World, meet Muskann! 😋 •

This is a pedestrian crossing over Leningradsky prospekt. How many thousand times have I crossed it on my way to the office? It takes me 8 minutes sharp to get by foot from the doors of my apartment to the work place - I timed⏱🚶
Most of my way goes through this crossing. One can say the I almost live here...

Breaking Bread 🥖
I took this photo of the hands of a new friend here in Atlanta. It was one of our first girl dates and at the time I was getting back into painting and was feeling inspired and wanted to photograph everything to possibly make paintings of later.
I notice hands. I love hands. Hers are so long, slender, strong yet sensitive and she has certain rings she likes to where, one being a mood ring which I think is awesome. Another ring with a stone and tangled metal was her favorite but she lost it a weird situation. I was utterly frustrated for her and new that feeling all too well. I’m glad I caught and painted this. It feels all the more special and hopefully, in time, it can help heal that small yet meaningful loss.

Diablo Lake, WA ✨
I am whole heartedly into nature + whole heartedly into cities. I guess cause I live in the most city of cities I tend to find myself painting landscapes and sky-scapes and flowers most often. My mental escape from all the city perhaps?? Ahhh, would you look at this water! I’ve wanted nothing more then to jump into a lake this summer🤤🤩#westcoastisbestcoast #diablolake#washingtonstate#pnw#paintingmyworld
Just a quick abstract floral for today. Everyday is a gift, but today is extra special because it’s my brother’s birthday. Happy birthday @stevesmith_98⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Love you buddy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Leave no scrap of paper unpainted!
What's on your plate for this week? We're having some work done on our house and so I don't expect to have a lot of time to paint but there's always a way to work on these 'littles' or maybe sketch more! Where there's a will, there's a way, yes?⠀
Hope you have a great week!
Blog feature: Audrey Jackson (@mother_drear), California Institute of the Arts
ASA: "To get us started, share more about yourself and your artwork."
Audrey: "Art is my means of taking the negative or sometimes positive overflow of emotion coming from the mental as well as physical ailment into the real world. In many ways my art can be taken in by the viewer as a visual representation of what goes on in the mind and what has trouble making its way out in any other form besides artistic expression. Because the things I make are usually from my own repressions or explosions it is difficult for my art to be transferred into a logical explanation unless analyzed like a dream. I consider my art to be a mixing pot of my own delusions, frustrations, dreams, overwhelming feelings, thought patterns, and my spiritual beliefs purged into a mixture of colors, characters, and cryptic symbols. My art has helped me survive myself since a very young age. In my art I have never wanted anything more than to lead the viewer to relate their own feelings to mine, and hopefully lead the viewer to express themselves in their own artistic way. I am now happily entering my senior year at Calarts and pursuing my artistic dreams at the age of 22. In pure gratitude you can find my permanent gallery at Rosalina in my little hometown, Santa Margarita, California as well as on the label of One Stone Cellars and The Jade Jackson Band's new album, Wilderness."
Audrey has already sold two pieces this month, to collectors from Qatar and NYC. Read about Audrey at blog.artstartart.com and shop the rest of Audrey's work this month by visiting artstartart.com!
I've been wanting to work on this old cedar tree stump for a couple of years. I took a photo of it 2 years ago while hiking outside Golden Colorado. This week, I took the first step by doing a value study just of the main trunk, which is pretty complicated! But I am fascinated by the remnants of these tangled old limbs, I feel I just have to paint it!
Early name for it: Dragon or... all curled up. ⠀
Pencil, black ink, & red ink
I’m in the midst of finishing this painting that I’ve been working on for several months. I usually don’t have a problem knowing when a small painting is finished. My mind starts to wander to other things and that’s my clue to sign the painting and call it complete. But large paintings are so different. My relationship with them is different, and knowing when it’s finished is completely different. It’s a never ending learning process, this artistic journey. And I’m loving every minute of it. So I’ll dive back into this one today and ask myself, when my mind starts to wander, if it feels complete. And at some point the answer will be yes. #everhopeful#carveouttimeforart#peony
Diving head first into a new week. I didn’t accomplish everything that I planned to this past weekend, I squeezed in more time for fun than work, but that’s okay. It’s a new week with time for accomplishing things with a fresh energy. And these sweet peaches are fresh off the easel this morning. Wishing you a week filled with fresh possibilities! #carveouttimeforart#createwithallofyourheart #peaches🍑
Oh those gorgeous blues! This is a tiny commission from this past weekend. On the first weekend of the Rehoboth show a family bought three small originals with the intention of getting one frame and switching out the painting throughout the year. Then they came back the following weekend for three more. What a great idea. Maybe they need 12? One for each month. Which reminds me, I wanted some input from you for my 2020 calendar. I’ll be sending out an email later today about that. So if you are on my email list I’d love your input, and if you’re not, what are you waiting for? The link is in my bio to sign up! Hope your day is a great one! #carveouttimeforart#originalart#blueberries
